There is a trail where you can enjoy walking while taking in Namsan, the symbol and central landmark of Seoul. The 'Namsan Dulle-gil' is a 7.5 km-long walking path where you can experience Namsan's nature, ecology, history, and culture all at once. Starting from the Namsan Cable Car station, take a full loop and enjoy the forest trail in the heart of the city. The Namsan Dulle-gil is composed of five main themes: the North Circular Road, Forest Trail, Wildflower Garden Trail, Natural Ecology Trail, and History and Culture Trail.
First, the North Circular Road starts at the rest area in front of the Namsan Cable Car entrance, passing Waryongmyo Shrine, Seokhojeong Pavilion, and Namsan Pine Healing Forest, and ends at the Namsan Circular Bus stop. This 3.42 km-long path prohibits vehicle and bicycle traffic, allowing for a safe and pleasant walking experience. The North Circular Road is the widest and longest section of the Namsan Dulle-gil, featuring gentle slopes, making it a beloved walking spot throughout all four seasons. Especially in spring when cherry blossoms bloom and in autumn when the leaves turn colors, you can enjoy an even more special beauty.
Next, the Forest Trail stretches from the Namsan Circular Bus stop through the forest trail rest area to the Wildflower Garden. It was created to connect the northern and southern sections of the Dulle-gil. This trail allows you to brush past trees and listen to birdsong, making it the closest path to nature within the Namsan Dulle-gil. With a total length of 0.91 km, you can lightly stroll while experiencing Namsan’s forest.
As you walk feeling the trees beneath your feet, you will soon arrive at the Wildflower Garden Trail, where you can encounter blooming flowers. This 0.88 km path runs from the Namsan Wildflower Garden to the outdoor botanical garden rest area, allowing you to admire flowers and trees. Along the course, there is a Park Support Center that offers ecological experience programs and the Hannam Children’s Forest Experience Center, making it a great place to create memories with family.
Following that is the Natural Ecology Trail, a 1.65 km path leading to the Sowol Poetry Monument rest area. Although it has some steep slopes, this trail is rich in ecological resources such as habitats for small creatures and a colony of Namsan violets. In the section where it merges with the South Circular Road, you can also see cherry trees lining both sides of the path.
The final course is the History and Culture Trail, where history and spirit come alive. This 0.64 km path features many historical and cultural sites such as the Namsan Library, the Memorial Hall of Independence Activist Ahn Jung-geun, Hohyeondang, and Samsuni Staircase. You can ascend Namsan using the central staircase, and it takes about 30 minutes to reach Namsan Seoul Tower. Walking along this course, you will arrive back at the rest area of the North Circular Road, the starting and ending point, concluding today’s route.
