BioFDNC is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by the news that a technology to induce plant cell cultures with the same fragrance components as rose petals has been developed for the first time in the world.
As of 10:41 AM on the 17th, BioFDNC is trading at 15,370 KRW, up 4.84% compared to the previous day.
According to the industry, the Rural Development Administration has succeeded in inducing plant cell cultures (callus) that possess the exact same fragrance components as real rose petals for the first time in the world.
Plant cell cultures, also called "plant stem cells," are tissues that form at the wound site when a plant is injured and contain high concentrations of bioactive substances. When using plants as cosmetic ingredients, utilizing cell cultures can minimize environmental impact during cultivation and allow for the mass and uniform proliferation of beneficial components.
South Korea's cosmetics market relies on imports for more than 80% of its raw materials, making the expansion of domestic raw material production urgent to strengthen competitiveness.
Accordingly, the Rural Development Administration began research on developing cosmetic material technology using Korean rose varieties with clear resource origins and excellent fragrance. The research was conducted jointly with BioFDNC, which develops and sells cell culture extracts as pharmaceutical and cosmetic materials.
This is the world's first successful cell culture that fully preserves the exact same fragrance as actual rose petals. The research results were published in the international academic journal Plants.
