Sangmin Lee: "You Can't Blame All Election Responsibility on One Person... Strong Demand for Donghoon Han to Run for Party Leader"

End of Next Month Ruling Party Convention... Han Dong-hoon’s Candidacy Becomes Visible
"If I Can Contribute to the Convention Camp, I Will Step Forward"

Former People Power Party lawmaker Lee Sang-min criticized Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who has been fueling the "Han Dong-hoon general election defeat responsibility theory" day after day, saying, "We brought in an outsider because of necessity, but it is wrong to put all the responsibility on that person."

On the 17th, Lee said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "I want to meet Mayor Hong in person and tell him that the election is a collective responsibility of the candidates and President Yoon Seok-yeol," adding, "If those who should really take responsibility are not doing so and are acting recklessly, shouldn't someone more capable step up or the person themselves compete?"

He continued, "Is it enough to just keep calling someone a bad person, someone who should take responsibility, someone who ruins things, or someone who sacrifices themselves to Lee Jae-myung?" and said, "If there really is no one else, then you yourself should step up and make a decisive move to save the country."

He also predicted that former Chairman Han's bid for party leadership is likely, saying, "Despite the responsibility theory for the general election, there is a very strong demand inside and outside the party for former Chairman Han to run for party leader." Lee emphasized, "Whether former Chairman Han runs in the party convention is already a past issue. The visions, goals, strategies, tactics, relations with the opposition, and livelihood issues presented by those running, including former Chairman Han, should be the main points of debate."

Regarding whether he will join former Chairman Han's camp, he said, "If I can contribute even a little to any camp, I want to step forward," adding, "I have the intention to join, but there has been no word from former Chairman Han's side."

Meanwhile, ahead of the People Power Party's party convention scheduled for the end of next month, a competitive landscape is forming among the next party leadership candidates. Inside the National Assembly, lawmakers Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo, and Yoon Sang-hyun are expected to run, while outside the Assembly, former Chairman Han and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min are anticipated to enter the race.
