From the 17th to August, 'Lee Raekyung's Creative Work' Displayed on City Hall Exterior Wall

Message: 'No Matter How Hot Summer Gets, Can It Match the Passion of Busan Citizens!'

Busan City has selected the message for the 2024 Busan Culture Billboard Summer Edition and will display it on the exterior wall of City Hall for about three months, from the 17th until August.

This summer's message is a creative work by Lee Raekyung: "No matter how hot the summer gets, can it match the passion of Busan citizens!"

Out of a total of 812 submissions received through a public contest held throughout April, Lee Raekyung's original work was finally selected after a fair review by the Busan Writers' Association.

Lee Seokrae, head judge (Busan Writers' Association), stated that 40 works made it to the final review after the first and second preliminary rounds. He emphasized that the selection process focused on finding a message that is both comforting and warm, and expressed hope that, along with the chosen summer message, the hearts of Busan citizens will feel refreshed this summer and that the warmth and spirit of Busan will inspire people to return next year.

Kim Jongseok, Director of Housing and Architecture at the city, said, "I hope this summer's message gives citizens hope to overcome the midsummer heat."

The contest for the autumn edition message will be held in July. The message should be a short phrase of 25 characters or less, allowing citizens to feel love, hope, and warmth. Both original works and excerpts from literary works are accepted.

The winner will receive a cultural gift certificate worth 300,000 KRW, and 17 runners-up will each receive a cultural gift certificate worth 30,000 KRW.
