Mapo-gu Haetbit Center Supports Frozen Egg Assisted Reproductive Technology... Up to 2 Million KRW

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is promoting the ‘Frozen Egg Assisted Reproductive Technology Support Project’ for couples hoping to conceive in order to overcome the serious low birthrate crisis.

As procedures involving freezing and storing eggs in advance for pregnancy and childbirth increase, the district plans to partially support the costs of assisted reproductive technology using frozen eggs to attempt pregnancy and childbirth.

The support fund is up to 1 million KRW per couple per procedure, including common-law couples, and supports the cost of up to two procedures.

The supported items include ▲thawing of frozen eggs ▲semen collection ▲fertilization and confirmation ▲embryo culture and observation ▲embryo transfer ▲post-procedure stage testing fees, etc. However, couples who apply for infertility treatment cost support after an infertility diagnosis will only be supported up to the thawing process before fertilization.

Without a separate prior application, couples can pay the procedure costs at infertility treatment medical institutions and then visit the Mapo-gu Health Center Sunlight Center within three months from the procedure completion date to apply for procedure cost support. However, for infertile couples and common-law couples, it is mandatory to visit the Sunlight Center before the procedure to apply for the infertility couple procedure cost support project and receive a support decision notice.

For more details, please contact the Infertility Counseling and Medical Expense Support Office at the Mapo-gu Health Center Sunlight Center.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “As the age of first marriage is delayed, infertility is also increasing. The Mapo-gu Sunlight Center will continue to provide warm interest and support so that all couples striving for pregnancy can welcome precious life without difficulty.”

Meanwhile, last year Mapo-gu opened the ‘Cheokkeut Center,’ which operates in a separate space alongside the Sunlight Center that provides one-stop support from pregnancy preparation to childbirth and parenting, offering pregnancy counseling and welfare service linkage for single mothers, receiving great response.
