Nowon-gu Launches Naver Smart Place Registration Support Project to Enhance Digital Capabilities of Small Business Owners

Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will promote the 'Our Store Smart Place Registration Support Project' to revitalize the long-stagnant local economy and strengthen the digital competitiveness of small business owners.

'Smart Place' is a service where users can check information and reviews of businesses searchable on the portal site 'Naver.' As consumer trends of searching and visiting places such as hot spots and popular restaurants in advance spread, registering and managing Smart Places is becoming an essential marketing strategy.

However, many small business owners struggle with such online marketing due to lack of time and information. The district plans to provide 1:1 customized consulting to resolve their difficulties and questions.

First, the district will conduct 1:1 training for small business owners on entering basic information such as business type, address, phone number, and price for registering on 'Naver Smart Place' and managing their place. It will also support photographing the interior and exterior of the store as well as the products sold.

Additionally, to achieve higher exposure in searches, the district will provide consulting on registering exposure keywords through 'keyword search volume analysis' and conduct education to prevent damages to small business owners, such as from advertising agencies, during place management.

Furthermore, the district will support marketing by writing business introductions and visit reviews on SNS platforms such as Naver Blog and Shorts. This will be done in cooperation with the Nowon-gu Small and Medium Enterprises and Small Business Association through the 'Small Business SNS Youth Supporters' program to strengthen online promotion for small business owners.

The application period starts from June 26, recruiting 40 locations on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligible applicants are businesses not registered on Smart Place or those that have not updated their information for a long time. However, businesses that are temporarily closed or permanently shut down, franchise businesses (both directly managed and franchise stores), excluded industries such as pharmacies, hospitals, real estate agencies, and industries not eligible for Smart Place registration are excluded.

Applications can be submitted online through the Nowon-gu Office website or by visiting the Nowon-gu Office Job and Economy Division. Required documents include an application form, business registration certificate, or business registration confirmation. Detailed application requirements and procedures can be found on the Nowon-gu Office website announcement board from the 21st.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “With customized support for small business owners aligned with the consumption trends of the MZ generation, we hope to help strengthen their self-sustainability and digital capabilities,” adding, “We will strive to prepare more active support measures to stabilize the management of small business owners who are struggling due to the prolonged economic downturn.”
