President Hwang's Third Visit to Czech Republic This Year
Attends 'Korea-Czech Nuclear and Cultural Exchange Day' Event
Expresses Commitment and Capability to Secure Nuclear Power Projects
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) launched a final all-out effort ahead of the selection of the preferred bidder for the new nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic.
On the 12th (local time), KHNP President Hwang Ju-ho visited the Czech Republic and met with Minister of Industry and Trade and Chairman of the New Nuclear Power Plant Construction Standing Committee, Minister Jozef S?kela. This was KHNP's third visit to the Czech Republic this year, following a project status briefing for the Czech media in January and the submission of the final bid in April.
At the meeting, President Hwang once again emphasized "a prepared KHNP, KHNP capable of constructing nuclear power plants on schedule within the given budget, and KHNP as the optimal partner for the Czech Republic," reaffirming KHNP's determination and capabilities to win the Czech nuclear power plant project.
On the 13th, KHNP held a media briefing for the local Czech press, highlighting KHNP's excellent nuclear power plant construction capabilities and fostering a favorable atmosphere toward KHNP.
As Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is making a final all-out effort to secure a new nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic, on the 13th (local time), Hwang Ju-ho, president of KHNP, is speaking at the "Korea-Czech Nuclear Power and Cultural Exchange Day" event held at the ?of?n Palace in Prague, Czech Republic.
On the same day, the "Korea-Czech Nuclear and Cultural Exchange Day" event was held. The event, organized by KHNP, was attended by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, the Embassy of Korea in the Czech Republic, Korean companies cooperating with KHNP under joint cooperation agreements (KEPCO Engineering & Construction Company, KEPCO KPS, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel, Doosan Enerbility, Daewoo Engineering & Construction), the Korea Nuclear Industry Association, the Korea Nuclear Export Industry Association, and the World Taekwondo Federation. Over 400 key figures from both countries participated, including the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Czech Industrial Association, key personnel from the planned nuclear power plant site, the chairperson of the Korea-Czech Future Forum, the president of the Czech Construction Association, and companies affiliated with the Czech Power Industry Association (CPIA) such as Doosan ?koda Power and Sigma Group, totaling 110 companies.
Furthermore, on the 14th, KHNP visited T?eb??, a region near the planned nuclear power plant construction site, to meet with key figures and extended the sponsorship period of the T?eb?? ice hockey team, which it has supported for seven years. President Hwang emphasized KHNP's image as a company coexisting with the local community through annual global volunteer activities in the Czech Republic since 2017.
Earlier, on the 12th and 13th, KHNP exhibited the APR1000 core simulator, the reactor type proposed by KHNP for the Czech project, at the Czech Technical University and agreed to jointly develop an undergraduate curriculum to train nuclear power plant operation experts with the university, expanding nuclear technology exchange and research cooperation. In addition, KHNP conducted extensive bidding activities involving the Czech government, industry, clients, academia, and local communities.
President Hwang concluded the local bidding activities by stating, "KHNP will do its utmost until the end to be selected as the preferred bidder for the Czech new nuclear power plant project based on its outstanding construction and project management capabilities."
The project owner (EDUII) for the Czech new nuclear power plant construction project is conducting a bid for the construction of one nuclear power plant unit under 1,200 MW in the Dukovany area. In January, the Czech government announced plans to build up to four additional nuclear power plants, and KHNP submitted its final bid for participation in the Czech new nuclear power plant construction project on April 29. The Czech government is scheduled to select the preferred bidder next month.
