Ulsan Imposes 36.8 Billion Won in First Installment of June Automobile Tax, Up 1.9 Billion Won from Last Year

Ulsan City announced on the 16th that a total of 369,072 cases amounting to 36.8 billion KRW have been levied as the first installment of automobile tax for June this year.

This first installment of automobile tax has increased by 1.9 billion KRW compared to June last year.

The automobile tax is imposed twice a year, in June and December, on automobile owners. The subjects for this first installment are automobiles, construction machinery, and motorcycles registered in Ulsan City as of June 1, the tax base date.

However, vehicles that paid the annual tax in a lump sum in January or March, as well as vehicles eligible for reduction such as those owned by people with disabilities or national merit recipients, are excluded from this imposition.

As of this year's tax base date, the number of registered vehicles in Ulsan City increased by 8,646 (1.5%) from 594,515 last year to 603,161 this year, resulting in an increase of about 1.9 billion KRW compared to the same period last year.

The breakdown of automobile tax levied by district is as follows: Jung-gu 66,341 cases, 6.7 billion KRW; Nam-gu 95,753 cases, 9.7 billion KRW; Dong-gu 40,116 cases, 4.1 billion KRW; Buk-gu 74,496 cases, 7.7 billion KRW; Ulju-gun 92,366 cases, 8.6 billion KRW.

The payment period is from June 16 to July 1. By applying for the local tax payment service via the 'Smart Wetax' app, financial institution apps, KakaoPay, NaverPay, and other simple payment apps on your smartphone, you can quickly and accurately receive your payment details.

An Ulsan City official stated, "If you miss the payment deadline, a 3% late payment penalty will be added, and you may face disadvantages such as having your license plate seized, so please make sure to pay within the deadline." If you pay the second installment of automobile tax in advance by July 1, you can receive a 2.5% discount on the annual amount.
