Apartment Representative Who Reduced Maintenance Fees by Selling Fallen Leaves to Receive 35 Million Won from Government This Time

Selected as a Government-Supported Complex for Multi-Family Housing Projects

A resident representative who gained attention for actively reducing management fees by resolving apartment fallen leaf disposal costs for free and painting on their own recently applied for a government support project and received a grant of 35 million KRW.

On the 14th, an online community post titled "A Representative Truly Dedicated to Apartment Management" was uploaded. The post included a photo of a notice stating that the apartment complex was selected as a target site for the 2024 government-supported multi-family housing project and would receive 35 million KRW.

The author, who identified as a resident of the apartment, wrote on the former Twitter platform X in January, "The apartment representative where I live seems to have put their life on apartment management," praising the representative.

At that time, the apartment resident representative saved on fallen leaf disposal costs in 2022 by contracting a waste disposal company to handle 100 large sacks of leaves for 660,000 KRW. Last year, the leaves were processed at no cost by providing them free of charge to a farm through a secondhand trading platform.

This news, which spread through social media, was introduced on broadcasts and in the press, gaining significant attention, ultimately leading to selection for the government support project. The author expressed joy, saying, "The post I wrote back then spread and even made it to the news, which gave us extra points and led to our selection as a government support project target site. We received 35 million KRW in support funds. Thanks to the wide spread, we were able to do good work."

The notice stated, "We would like to share joyful news with the residents," and announced, "Our apartment has been selected as a target site for the government support project."

It continued, "Since the government support project mainly supports low-income housing complexes, it is difficult to be selected, but we received the grand prize for two consecutive years at the district office-hosted resource circulation competition and were broadcasted for good apartment management, which earned us extra points in the evaluation," and added, "The support funds will be used for rooftop waterproofing work reflected in the apartment’s long-term repair plan."

It further stated, "The resident representative meeting and management office will do their best to ensure residents can live comfortably," and added, "If there are any suggestions or doubts about management fee expenditures, we will sincerely disclose all materials and explain them at any time, and we will review and promptly address any suggestions."

Netizens who read the story left comments such as "This is why the representative is important," "If you pick the right person, this is what happens," "The apartment representative is truly an amazing person," "I hope this post makes people realize the importance of voting," and "Our apartment also collects ice packs that cannot be recycled and distributes them free of charge to nearby packaging restaurants."
