SMAC Partners with Global Equipment Company Sandvik for High-End Technology Development

SMEC, a manufacturer of machine tools and robot automation solutions, announced on the 14th that it has signed a partnership with Swedish equipment manufacturer Sandvik to develop high-end equipment.

SMEC held a signing ceremony at its headquarters on the same day with Sandvik, which possesses the core technology for the 'CAPTO TOOL,' to develop high-end TURN-MILL equipment.

The CAPTO TOOL is a tool specification capable of simultaneous turning and milling, and to equip this tool, the spindle of the machine tool must be specially processed. Unlike the conventional machine tool milling spindle inner diameter, it has a triangular polygonal shape that effectively transmits torsional torque and bending torque in the rotational direction. This feature is essential when implementing turning processing in a milling spindle. To develop and mass-produce turn-mill machines, this is a critical technology to secure. Through this partnership agreement, Sandvik will provide SMEC with technology support for spindle processing solutions and design.

Following partnerships with global companies Siemens and Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, SMEC plans to develop a high-end lineup and expand its overseas market share through the partnership with Sandvik.

An SMEC representative stated, "Through the partnership with Sandvik, we plan to develop advanced equipment and enhance our product lineup," adding, "We are focusing our R&D capabilities to achieve a quantum leap in performance, such as developing semiconductor equipment last month and obtaining patents."
