AI MedTech company Weisen announced on the 14th that it will supply its AI stomach and colon endoscopy solution, Weimed Endo, to Jeonju Jesus Hospital in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.
This supply of Weimed Endo was made possible through the AI Voucher Support Project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). This project supports medical institutions, venture and mid-sized companies to adopt optimal AI solutions within a short period. Hospitals receive financial support for AI product adoption, and AI companies can expand the distribution of their AI products. Through this, Jeonju Jesus Hospital became the first medical institution in the Jeollabuk-do region to introduce AI stomach and colon endoscopy software.
Weimed Endo is medical device software that analyzes endoscopic images in real-time using AI, assisting medical staff during stomach and colon endoscopy examinations to detect abnormal lesions without missing them. The core of the product is to quickly and accurately detect abnormal lesions in the stomach and colon, and it can be used in conjunction with existing endoscopic equipment.
With the introduction of Weimed Endo, Jeonju Jesus Hospital plans to provide high-quality stomach and colon endoscopy examinations to residents of Jeollabuk-do and evolve into a cutting-edge smart hospital leading future medical care beyond a regional hub hospital. Since Jeonju Jesus Hospital performs endoscopies for health checkups aimed at prevention as well as therapeutic endoscopies for stomach and colon cancers, it is expected to provide high-quality medical services through the integration of AI technology.
Shin Choong-sik, director of Jeonju Jesus Hospital, said, “The Jesus Hospital Gastroenterology Center has advanced academically and overcome the limitations of local hospitals to improve treatment levels,” adding, “We will do our best to lead regional medical standards through the introduction of Weimed Endo and operation of state-of-the-art equipment.” Kim Kyung-nam, CEO of Weisen, said, “We feel a great responsibility as Weimed Endo is rapidly expanding its supply to hospitals nationwide,” and added, “We will focus on advancing the Weimed Endo product and business to become recognized not only as the first but also the best AI endoscopy product.”
