Beopryul Newspaper will hold the '2024 Legal Tech & AI Show (LTAS)' from the 26th to the 28th at COEX Hall A, 1st floor, Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Co-hosted by Beopryul Newspaper and exhibition company Messe Isang, this event is organized to discuss innovations in legal tech and generative AI. Global legal tech companies such as LexisNexis, along with major domestic legal tech companies including Law&Company, LBox, Law&Good, Loform, and BHSN, will showcase legal tech services utilizing AI technology. Corporate legal practitioners, law firm lawyers, judges and prosecutors, as well as the general public interested in legal tech and AI, are welcome to attend.
On the first day of the event, the 26th, the LTAS opening ceremony and conference will take place. Won Hosin, Director of the Judicial Informatization Office at the Court Administration, will deliver the keynote speech on the topic of 'AI and Judicial Information Systems.' Following this, Lee Seongbeom, Director of the ICT Division at the Planning and Coordination Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, will present the second keynote speech on 'Utilization of Generative AI in Prosecutorial Case Handling.'
In the afternoon, James E. Baker, a professor at Syracuse University College of Law and director of the Institute for Security Policy, recognized as the top authority on AI-related law in the U.S. legal community, will deliver the third keynote speech titled 'Changes AI Will Bring to the Legal Profession.' Professor Baker, a former U.S. federal judge, authored the 'AI Primer for U.S. Federal Judges' last year commissioned by the U.S. Federal Judicial Center. This book is considered a must-read for American legal professionals as it guides the impact of AI on judicial practice and how judges should respond.
Following his keynote speech, Professor Baker will engage in a dialogue with Professor Park Sangcheol of Seoul National University Law School, Professor Park Hyejin of Hanyang University Law School, and Lee Jin, CEO of LBox, and will also take questions from the audience.
An Gisoon, head of the Legal AI Research Institute at Law&Company, and Jo Woosung, chief attorney at MustKnow Law Office, have prepared presentations on the application and utilization methods of generative AI in the legal field and an introduction to 'Super Lawyer.' Additionally, lectures by legal tech experts such as Min Younggi, CEO of Law&Good, are scheduled.
On the second day, the 27th, Kang Mingu, chief attorney at Law Firm Dool, will give a special lecture titled 'Survival Strategies for the Korean Legal Profession in the AI Era - Related to Judges and Lawyers' Work.' Following this, lectures will be held sequentially by Baek Insong, Global Partner Solution Manager at Microsoft Korea, Lim Youngik, CEO of Intellicon, Park Seongjae, head of the Loform Legal AI Center, Ji Yonggu, vice president of Duzon Bizon, Lim Jeonggeun, CEO of BHSN, and Park Kyungsin, CEO of Hanbit Solutions.
On the 28th, the 'Legal Tech & AI Forum' inauguration ceremony will be held to explore the current status and development of the latest legal tech and AI. The forum will consist of about 30 experts from academia, the legal profession, industry, government, and public institutions. Starting with the inaugural meeting on this day, a total of four forums will be held within the year. The inaugural chairman is Lee Seongyeop, president of the Korea Data Law Policy Association, and congratulatory remarks will be given by Minister of Justice Park Seongjae and Lee Gisu, president of the Korea Law Academy.
Along with the forum inauguration, an academic conference will be held where Kang Hyunggu, president of the Korea Financial Management Association, will present on 'Economic Effects Brought by Legal Tech (Focusing on Overseas Data),' Professor Jeong Hyeryeon of the Police University Law Department will discuss 'U.S. Legal Tech Regulations and Related Legislation,' Lee Byungjun, director of the Legal Tech Center at Korea University Law Research Institute, will address 'The Potential of Domestic Legal Tech and Future Legislative Policy Directions,' and Professor Jeon Seongmin of Gachon University Business Administration Department will explore 'Diversity of Business Models in the Legal Tech Field.' Following these presentations, a comprehensive discussion titled 'Discourse on Coexistence between Legal Tech and the Legal Profession' will be held with Lee as the chair and experts participating.
Lee said, “At LTAS, top domestic and international authorities will provide insights into the changes AI will bring to the legal profession and attendees can directly experience the latest products from legal tech companies. This event will be a venue to discuss innovations in legal tech and generative AI and foster cooperation and coexistence across the entire legal community.”
