Realizing a Low-Carbon Energy Self-Sufficient City and Establishing Mid- to Long-Term Policies
Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 13th that it held a kick-off briefing session for the establishment of the Geochang County Energy Self-Sufficient City Development Plan at the county office situation room, presided over by Economic Welfare Bureau Director Kim Sungyun, with 15 participants including the Planning and Budget Officer, Strategy Officer, and related department heads.
Geochang County is holding a service report meeting for establishing a plan to create an energy self-sufficient city.
At the briefing session, Pureum Engineering, the agency conducting the study, reported on the Geochang County Energy Self-Sufficient City Development Plan, followed by a Q&A session and a review.
The main tasks of the study for the establishment of the energy self-sufficient city plan include: ▲ Establishing short-term and mid- to long-term policies for realizing a low-carbon energy self-sufficient city ▲ Developing implementation plans for key initiatives reflecting local characteristics ▲ Seeking ways to revitalize the local economy through the formulation of citizen-participatory plans.
Through this study, the county plans to identify the basic energy status of Geochang County, set energy self-sufficiency goals considering local characteristics, and establish policies and climate change response systems for energy efficiency and the expansion of renewable energy, ultimately deriving feasible short- and mid- to long-term policies to advance toward becoming an energy self-sufficient city.
Kim Sungyun, Director of the Economic Welfare Bureau, said, "With this study, I hope we can establish a comprehensive energy plan that encompasses energy self-sufficiency, energy transition, resident policy participation, and socio-economic aspects, providing an opportunity for Geochang County to take a further step forward as an energy self-sufficient city."
