A commemorative academic conference will be held on the 13th to mark the 24th anniversary of the June 15 Inter-Korean Summit.
On the 13th, the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center (Chairman Kim Hong-eop) will co-host the "24th Anniversary Ceremony and Academic Conference of the June 15 Inter-Korean Summit" with Yonsei University Kim Dae-jung Library and the Kim Dae-jung Nobel Peace Prize Memorial Hall at the Yonsei University Kim Dae-jung Library Convention Hall.
Held under the theme "Sunshine Policy: The Grand Strategy and Future Vision for Peace, Unification, and Prosperity on the Korean Peninsula," this event will consist of a commemorative ceremony and an academic conference.
At the ceremony, Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the National Assembly, Park Chan-dae, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Cho Kuk, Leader of the Innovation Party, Cheon Ha-ram, Floor Leader of the Reform Party, and Lee Seok-hyun, Emergency Committee Chairman of the New Future Party, will deliver congratulatory speeches. At the academic conference, Baek Hak-soon, Director of the Kim Dae-jung Academy (and Director of the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center), will give a keynote lecture. Professors Ryu Sang-young of Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies and Lee Tae-ho, Director of the Peace and Disarmament Center at People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, will present and discuss topics titled "June 15 Inter-Korean Joint Declaration: Issues to Consider Today" and "Sunshine Policy and a Peace-First Approach."
About 300 people are expected to attend the event, including Lee Seok-hyun, Emergency Committee Chairman of the New Future Party; Han Chang-min, Co-Representative of the Social Democratic Party; Kwon No-gap, Chairman of the Kim Dae-jung Foundation; former Speakers of the National Assembly Kim Won-ki, Im Chae-jung, Moon Hee-sang, and Kim Jin-pyo; former Minister of Unification Im Dong-won; former Minister of Environment Kim Myung-ja (current Chairman of KAIST); former Minister of Culture and Tourism Namgung Jin; and National Assembly members Park Ji-won, Choo Mi-ae, Kwak Sang-eon, Lee Hoon-gi, and Kim Tae-seon.
