Ulsan University College of Medicine Professors' Association Emergency Committee Issues Statement After General Meeting
Seoul Asan Medical Center also decided to join the Korean Medical Association (KMA) strike on the 18th.
The Emergency Committee of the Ulsan University College of Medicine Professors' Association announced this after a general meeting on the 12th.
The committee explained, "Professors at Seoul Asan Medical Center demand that the government completely cancel the order to maintain medical services and commence work for residents, and take concrete and practical measures to resolve the current issues. They have decided to participate in the collective action led by the KMA on the 18th."
According to the committee, 64.7% of the affiliated professors responded to a survey conducted among the faculty at Seoul Asan Medical Center, and 93.7% of the respondents supported the strike on the 18th.
The committee stated, "This decision was made to ensure the safety of the residents," and added, "We strongly urge the government to take responsible action to resolve the issues, guarantee the legitimate rights of the residents, and restore trust."
They continued, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to patients due to this strike decision, and we pledge to do our best to restore a normal medical environment."
