IBK Industrial Bank and Korea Energy Agency Sign Business Agreement to Support Carbon Neutrality for SMEs

IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 12th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Energy Agency at the IBK headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, to jointly promote projects supporting carbon neutrality for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Through this business agreement, IBK Industrial Bank will join the Korea Energy Agency's "SME Greenhouse Gas Inventory Establishment Support Project" and plans to provide preferential interest rates and ESG consulting to SMEs that have completed greenhouse gas emission measurements and received verification certificates from the Korea Energy Agency.

The "SME Greenhouse Gas Inventory Establishment Support Project" is a program that supports SMEs by providing verification certificates on energy usage and greenhouse gas emission performance, enabling them to respond to carbon information disclosure requirements.

This project began last year as part of the government's "Strengthening the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) System for Carbon Emissions" initiative, aimed at responding to strengthened overseas carbon regulations such as the European Union (EU)'s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Leading with this project, the two organizations plan to continuously cooperate to support SMEs' carbon neutrality and ESG management.

Meanwhile, the "SME Greenhouse Gas Inventory Establishment Support Project" for this year is scheduled to begin accepting applications from interested companies on the Korea Energy Agency website starting at the end of June.
