A story has been reported that the name of the late former President Kim Dae-jung was painted on the exterior wall of an apartment building.

On the 12th, NoCut News reported that during the exterior repair process of an apartment in Osan-si, Gyeonggi Province, the name of former President Kim was written on the outer wall. According to the apartment notice, a large complex apartment with 1,100 households located near Osan University Station has been undergoing exterior repainting work for 50 days starting from the 1st.
Accordingly, white paint was arbitrarily used in various places to fill cracks as a base for painting by building. A worker hired by the construction company in charge of the repainting used white paint to write the name "Kim Dae-jung" on the exterior wall, which became a topic of discussion. Photos taken by resident A show that white paint is applied in patches over the existing orange paint on the exterior wall, and the large letters "Kim Dae-jung" are visible.

This fact became a big topic not only among the residents living in the apartment but also on online communities and social networking services (SNS). Some residents expressed their confusion on the apartment’s online community, saying, "Why show political colors while painting the exterior wall?" and "Suddenly Kim Dae-jung while painting the exterior wall?"
Netizens who came across the story responded with comments such as "No matter how much you respected him, that’s a bit much," "It seems to show excessive political bias," "Why do that when it’s not even their own apartment?" "That’s a nuisance," and "They probably didn’t consider the residents living there."

Meanwhile, according to the Air Quality Conservation Act enforced since 2022, spray painting is prohibited during apartment exterior painting work, and the roller method must be used. When painting within 50 meters of vulnerable living facilities such as hospitals and schools, spray painting is not allowed, and traditional methods such as rollers or brushes must be used. This case is presumed to be a primer mixed with paint applied to fill cracks before using the roller method.
