From the 13th to the 26th
About 75 Works to Be Exhibited at Gallery 107 and Street Gallery
Gallery 107 and Street Gallery 4 buildings (Gunmin Hall, Office of Education, Police Station, Ttukbang Rotary) operated by Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will present a solo exhibition of traditional embroidery by Park Geumnam from the 13th to the 26th.
This exhibition is the artist's first solo show, featuring about 75 works including a splendid eight-panel folding screen of four noble plants and birds embroidered stitch by stitch with various colored silk threads on Gongdancheon, a Seongryunsa flower lattice jewelry box, and a cicada norigae (traditional Korean ornament).
The works are the result of Park Geumnam’s continuous journey since she began learning traditional embroidery in 1969 under the tutelage of teacher Kim Sun-ae, allowing viewers to feel the beauty and artistic depth of traditional crafts.
Park Geumnam said, “I am very happy to hold my first solo exhibition at Gokseong Gallery 107. I hope this event will be an opportunity to share with the people of Gokseong the excitement I felt when I first encountered traditional embroidery in my childhood and the brilliant memories of staying up all night making folding screens for wedding gifts with students from the 1970s to the 1990s.”
Gallery 107 is located at 107-1 Jungang-ro, Gokseong-eup, and is open free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day during the exhibition period.
