Uiryeong County Newsletter 'Buja 1beonji Uiryeong' ... Renewed After 10 Years

A Beautiful and Heartwarming Story of a True Rich Person

Uiryeong County in Gyeongnam is delivering unique and touching local stories with the publication of the second issue of its county newsletter, "Buja 1beonji Uiryeong."

According to the county on the 12th, the Uiryeong County newsletter "Buja 1beonji Uiryeong" was relaunched this March with its inaugural issue after a 10-year hiatus. Rather than focusing on "achievements promotion," it reflects the warm stories of our neighbors.

County Governor Oh Taewan stated, "Considering factors such as reach, awareness, and favorability, the most effective promotional medium for our local reality is the county newsletter," and instructed, "In addition to policy promotion, please discover and spread good stories about our neighbors."

The Uiryeong County PR team, which produces the county newsletter, has set its direction based on three main concepts: Change-ui Uiryeong, Buja-da Uiryeong, and Haengbok-ae Uiryeong, creating interesting and unique content.

The PR team staff are responsible for key parts of the process, from editorial meetings to gather ideas, to coverage and article writing for "Buja 1beonji Uiryeong."

In particular, the county is most cautious about the newsletter being perceived as "achievements" or "excessive county government promotion."

The "True Wealth Stories" section, which seeks out the truly wealthy in spirit in the region, and the "Our Community Happiness Guardians" section, which features people cultivating hope in Uiryeong, deliver beautiful and heartwarming stories of our neighbors, moving readers deeply.

A feature report covering the life stories of Grandpa Park Wisoo, who has volunteered for over 20 years providing bathing and meal services and supports over 10 underprivileged students with 50,000 won each month, and Grandma Gong Doyeon, who practiced love for her neighbors throughout her life and even donated her body after passing, reminded readers of the true meaning of "wealth" in this era and reportedly brought tears to their eyes.

Sections introducing the dynamic activities of our neighbors, such as the youth community "Akkummang" (Aideului Kkum-eul Manggaemanggae Piwo Naeda), which was created to overcome the crisis of regional extinction, have received enthusiastic responses from readers who look forward to a hopeful future for Uiryeong.

The county has transformed the newsletter from a simple administrative information tool into a sophisticated publication rich in stories encompassing people, culture, tourism, and history.

Additionally, unique and engaging content such as "Buja Neighborhood, Our Neighborhood," which showcases local pride, and the webtoon "Heroes Who Protected Happiness," featuring Uiryeong figures Kwak Jaewoo and Ahn Heeje, welcomes readers.

The county ensures that all information in the newsletter is explained in an easy-to-understand manner for all age groups, and actively uses photos and illustrations related to the articles to improve comprehension and readability.

Readers have given positive feedback through the review section, saying, "The content is substantial," "It's a newsletter that feels human," and "The articles are well-written and even professional."

Meanwhile, "Buja 1beonji Uiryeong," which is mailed free of charge to subscribers every two months, currently has over 10,000 regular subscribers. Not only former residents but also readers who are not Uiryeong citizens can subscribe to the newsletter.

PR team leader Lee Kangsoo stated, "We will ensure that the newsletter becomes an important communication channel for county residents and that readers can directly participate in the production of the county newsletter in various ways."
