The shaved ice dessert released by Daejeon's representative bakery 'Sungsimdang' is becoming a hot topic among netizens. This is because Sungsimdang's red bean shaved ice costs only 6,000 won, while shaved ice prices nowadays easily exceed 10,000 won.

On the 12th, an online community such as "Because It's Painful, I'm the Boss" posted a thread titled "The Crazy Recent Status of Sungsimdang." The post included a photo that appeared to be Sungsimdang's menu. According to the menu, the 'Legendary Red Bean Shaved Ice' made with domestic red beans is priced at 6,000 won, Injeolmi shaved ice at 7,000 won, snowflake shaved ice mango at 7,500 won, and snowflake shaved ice strawberry at 6,500 won.


Netizens who saw the prices of Sungsimdang's shaved ice expressed surprise at the affordable prices. Comments included, "These days, shaved ice usually costs over 10,000 won, so this is incredibly cheap," "I hope they open direct stores nationwide," "Sungsimdang makes me want to visit Daejeon," "In this era of high inflation, with rising raw material and labor costs, this price is unbelievable. I want to live in Daejeon," and "I hope big corporations learn from Sungsimdang."

This is not the first time Sungsimdang's menu has become a topic of discussion. Sungsimdang's 'Mango Siru' cake also gained great popularity, leading to the emergence of part-time jobs where people stand in line in front of the store to buy the cake on behalf of others. Mango Siru is a fresh cream cake released as a follow-up to last winter's popular 'Strawberry Siru.' The price is 43,000 won.


On the 6th, a listing titled "Sungsimdang Mango Siru Queue-standing Part-time Job" was posted on the secondhand trading platform 'Danggeun Market.' The poster offered 30,000 won to stand in line for about 40 minutes in front of the store to buy the Mango Siru cake sold by Sungsimdang. This amount is more than three times the current minimum hourly wage of 9,860 won. The listing was completed within an hour of being posted and attracted significant attention, with over 1,600 views before the transaction was finalized.


Meanwhile, Sungsimdang is Daejeon's representative bakery that started in 1956 as a steamed bun shop in front of Daejeon Station. Recognized as a local cultural landmark, it was selected for the 'Local 100' (Top 100 Local Cultural Attractions) organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and also received the 'Local Culture Award,' which is given to three of the Local 100 sites.
