Dobong-gu Launches 'Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes' 2024 First Semester Program
Targeting Over 200 Elementary Students Needing Care Outside School Care Classrooms
Diverse Activities Including Cooking, Pottery, Drone, Futsal, Horticulture & Botanical Art, Jumping, and More
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has been operating the out-of-school care program "Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes" for the first semester of 2024 since June 4th to prevent care gaps during the school term.
"Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes" is an after-school gap care project first launched last year by a Seoul autonomous district in response to the increasing demand for care for elementary school students. The program, which also discovers and supports children's talents, has gained great popularity among participating students and parents.
The first semester program will run for five weeks until July 5th and will be operated at care centers by region. The target participants are about 200 elementary school students who need care, including those not selected in the school care classroom lottery or after-school class applications.
The offered programs include cooking, pottery, drones, futsal, horticulture and botanical art, and jumping. The program was designed reflecting the opinions of students, parents, and teachers who participated last year.
After this program ends, the district plans to organize the "Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes" summer vacation program. It is scheduled to run from late July, when summer vacation begins, to mid-August, with applications accepted through the Dobong-gu education portal Dobong Baeum-e starting July 1st.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "I hope children can challenge themselves with courses that are usually hard to access through 'Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes' and develop their dreams and talents through this." He added, "'Our Neighborhood Care Center Goes' will be developed by actively collecting and reflecting the opinions of students and parents to respond to the increasing demand for care."
