POSCO Cheongam Foundation announced on the 11th that it has selected Kim Eun-woo (18), a third-year student at Pohang Jungang Girls' High School, as a 'POSCO Hero' for saving the life of a man who was about to jump off a bridge.
On the 12th of last month, around 9 p.m., Kim saved a man in his 40s, Mr. A, who was trying to jump into the river from Yeonildae Bridge over the Hyeongsan River in Pohang while she was on her way home after finishing self-study at an academy.

Kim ran over and held onto Mr. A’s leg to prevent him from jumping into the river and reported the situation to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency’s 112 Comprehensive Security Situation Room.
For three minutes until the police arrived, Kim desperately held onto Mr. A’s leg and pleaded, "Please live." Fortunately, Mr. A did not jump and was safely rescued by the police.
Kim said, "I just thought I had to save him no matter what, so I held onto his leg. I’m really glad he survived."
The POSCO Heroes Fellowship is a program that supports heroes who have sacrificed for the nation and social justice, or their children, so they can continue their studies stably. Since 2019, it has actively discovered public officials and ordinary citizens who serve as social role models.
So far, a total of 98 POSCO Heroes have been selected.
