Development Plans for Areas Connected to National Route 1... Experts' Discussions Underway
National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced on the 11th that it will hold the 3rd seminar of the National Road No. 1 Forum titled ‘National Mokpo University Glocal Innovation and Regional Development’ at 1:30 PM on the 12th in the Jeongsangmuk Hall of the National Mokpo University 70th Anniversary Hall.
Co-hosted by the National Road No. 1 Forum and Moksapo (木思浦), this seminar will focus on development plans for regions connected by National Road No. 1 in line with National Mokpo University’s glocal innovation, featuring four keynote presentations and discussions by experts from various fields.
The seminar will be divided into two main sessions. The first session will present a topic titled ‘Proposal for the Development of Uninhabited Islands on the Korean Peninsula’ as a new concept for building tourism infrastructure that responds to the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Hong Seok-jun, Director of the National Mokpo University Institute of Island and Coastal Culture, will deliver a keynote presentation titled ‘A New Perspective on the Sea, Islands, and Port Cities,’ followed by Seon Jong-pil, CEO of Badagajeongwon Co., Ltd., who will present ‘Domestic and International Cases of Uninhabited Island Development.’
The discussion, chaired by Lee Kyung-yeop, Dean of the College of Humanities at National Mokpo University, will include panelists Jeong Tae-gyun, Head of the Island Cultivation Team at Jeonnam Provincial Government’s Marine and Fisheries Bureau, and Ryu Jae-young, Director of the Jeonnam Fishing Village Specialization Support Center.
The second session will focus on ‘Preservation and Development in Urban Planning.’ Jeong Eun-chae, Director of the Mokpo Urban Regeneration Center, will present ‘Achievements and Challenges of the Mokpo Urban Regeneration Project,’ and Park Jong-moon, CEO of Nustay Mokpo, will present ‘Mokpo’s Potential and Value as Seen Through Workation Operations.’
Following this, a discussion led by Ryu Do-am, Professor of the Department of Public Administration, Journalism, and Media at National Mokpo University, will feature panelists including Park Young-shin, Director of YS Real Estate Research Institute, and Jeong Tae-young, CEO of Small Action.
President Song Ha-cheol of National Mokpo University stated, “Glocal innovation and regional development have been core values pursued by our university,” adding, “We will continue to strive to grow and develop together with the local community through initiatives such as attracting a medical school and the final designation as a glocal university.”
The seminar is scheduled to run for four hours from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, and anyone interested in sustainable regional development and growth is welcome to attend.
