Beethoven Romance · Triple Concerto... Ravel Courpain's Tomb
One of Europe's leading chamber orchestras, the Swiss Lausanne Chamber Orchestra (OCL), will hold its first concert in Korea on September 3rd at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.
Renaud Capu?on, the artistic director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and a world-renowned violinist, will conduct and also perform as a soloist. Pianist Lee Jin-sang and cellist Han Jae-min will also join as soloists.
The program includes Beethoven's "Romance No. 1 and No. 2," Beethoven's "Triple Concerto," Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin," and Prokofiev's "Classical Symphony No. 1."
The Lausanne Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1942 and is a chamber orchestra that performs a vast repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary compositions.
Capu?on, who will conduct, began studying music at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 14 and quickly rose to the top ranks of the global music scene at a young age. He gained recognition when he was named "Newcomer of the Year" by the jury of the Victoires de la Musique Classique at age 25. In 2011, he was awarded the French National Order of Merit by the French government for his contributions to the development of the global classical music scene. He is currently one of the busiest violinists. According to the "2023 Classical Music Statistics" released by the classical music site Bachtrack, he ranked second among violinists with the most performances last year. He was appointed artistic director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra in 2021.
Cellist Han Jae-min began playing the cello at the age of five and entered the Korea National University of Arts as the youngest student. He won the 2021 George Enescu International Competition in Romania and the 2022 Isang Yun Competition.
Pianist Lee Jin-sang won the Cologne International Piano Competition in 2005 and became the first Asian to win the G?za Anda Competition in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2009. Since 2018, he has been a professor at the Korea National University of Arts, dedicating himself to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Tickets for the Swiss Lausanne Chamber Orchestra's first concert in Korea will be available for reservation from 3 p.m. on the 12th through the Seoul Arts Center and Interpark Ticket websites.
