Office Building Security Guard Diagnosed with 4 Weeks Recovery for Orbital Fracture
Complained About Parking Violation Sticker on Acquaintance's Car
"Security Guard Threatened First," Claims... Police Investigation Underway
An incident occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area where a security guard at an officetel was assaulted by a resident, resulting in a four-week medical treatment period. According to SBS and the Ansan Danwon Police Station on the 10th, a resident A of an officetel in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, is accused of punching a security guard B in his 60s at the security office on the 4th of last month.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage capturing the incident shows that A and a male companion stopped to remove a yellow parking violation sticker stuck on the glass while trying to move their vehicle out of the parking lot. Since the sticker did not come off easily, they went to the security office on the first floor to complain to security guard B. When B came out of the security office, A began assaulting him. The assault lasted for more than a minute, and the companion appeared to be holding a cellphone as if trying to record the incident.
Unable to endure the assault, B fled outside the building, and only then did the assault end. B suffered injuries including fractures to his right cheekbone and nose, requiring four weeks of hospital treatment. B told SBS, "(A) hit my face indiscriminately."
A is reported to have committed the assault out of dissatisfaction because B had placed a parking violation sticker on a vehicle belonging to A’s acquaintance. B had placed the sticker after noticing that the vehicle did not have a visitor parking permit. However, A claims, "My acquaintance had requested a visitor parking permit from B, but instead, a parking violation sticker was placed, so I protested."
Additionally, A stated that B threatened him first during the protest and that he tried to record evidence of this. A told SBS, "(B) was lifting his shoe to hit my face, but I didn’t dodge and took the hit," and added, "I was filming the assault first and then tried to hit back." In response, B denied the claims, saying, "I was never asked to issue a visitor parking permit, nor did I threaten anyone first."
It was also confirmed that A assaulted the officetel manager over parking issues on the 7th of last month, three days after the initial incident. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the assault through CCTV and other means. A police official stated, "We plan to review the charges after conducting investigations of the involved parties."
