Seongbuk-gu to Host 2024 'Happy Seongbuk Through Communication' Contest

Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will hold the '2024 Happy Seongbuk through Communication (hereafter Sohaengseong) Contest' for youth and university (graduate) students located in Seongbuk-gu starting from the 10th.

Now in its 8th year, the Sohaengseong Contest has discovered policy ideas from the perspective of youth in various fields. In particular, it has been praised for playing a significant role as a platform for policy communication with university and graduate students and youth, reflecting the characteristics of the district with the most universities (8) among Seoul's autonomous districts.

This year's contest will be held under two themes: ‘Resource Circulation Ideas for a Neat and Clean 「Clean Seongbuk」’ and ‘Policy Ideas in All Areas Affecting Residents' Lives’.

Participants can choose one of the two themes and submit their proposals either in written or video format. Applications must be submitted by 6 p.m. on July 5 via email or by mail/visit to the Planning and Budget Division of Seongbuk-gu Office.

The proposal form and other detailed information can be found on the Seongbuk-gu Office website.

Judging will be conducted through online public voting and the contest judging committee. The first round of judging will take place from July 10 to 16 through online public voting on the ‘National Idea Box’ platform. The second round will be held by the contest judging committee. Winners will be announced in August. Prize money of 1,000,000 KRW for Gold, 500,000 KRW for Silver, and 300,000 KRW for Bronze will be awarded.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “I hope the 2024 Sohaengseong will lead to policies that allow youth to enjoy a happy daily life and grow in Seongbuk,” and added, “In addition to Sohaengseong, we will continue efforts to actively reflect various resident proposals in district administration.”
