President Yoon Suk-yeol departed for Turkmenistan on the 10th to begin his tour of three Central Asian countries.
On the morning of the same day, President Yoon, accompanied by his wife Kim Keon-hee, departed from Seongnam Seoul Airport on Air Force One, the presidential aircraft, heading to Turkmenistan, the first country on his tour.
This overseas trip marks President Yoon's first foreign visit in six months since his state visit to the Netherlands in December last year. Arriving at Seoul Airport around 9:32 a.m. with Mrs. Kim, President Yoon boarded the presidential plane amid a send-off from People Power Party floor leader Choo Kyung-ho, Emergency Committee Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo, Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, and others.
The presidential couple is scheduled to make state visits to Turkmenistan from the 10th to 11th, Kazakhstan from the 11th to 13th, and Uzbekistan from the 13th to 15th.
After arriving in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, in the afternoon, President Yoon will hold a summit with President Serdar Berdimuhamedow to discuss ways to expand Korea-Turkmenistan cooperation. Following this, they will participate in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, a joint press conference, a wreath-laying at the Independence Monument, and a state banquet.
President Yoon is also scheduled to have a separate meeting with former President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the father of the current President Berdimuhamedow, who is the supreme leader of Turkmenistan and chairman of the People's Council.
As Turkmenistan is the world's fourth-largest natural gas holder, the two countries are expected to mainly discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in energy and other sectors. Based on the mutually beneficial partnership established in 2008, the two nations have maintained strong cooperation in energy and plant sectors.

In Kazakhstan, President Yoon will hold a meeting with ethnic Korean compatriots and overseas Koreans, followed by a summit with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, an MOU signing ceremony, and a joint press conference.
Kazakhstan, also an oil-producing country, is rich in key minerals such as uranium and chromium, and cooperation is expected to be strengthened in supply chains, industrial development, and economic security.
In Uzbekistan, which has a 'special strategic partnership' with Korea, President Yoon will hold a summit, sign agreements and MOUs, and conduct a joint press conference. He plans to solidify the partnership on key mineral supply chains with Uzbekistan and support Korean companies in securing energy and infrastructure projects.
