President Yoon Suk-yeol embarked on a tour of three Central Asian countries on the 10th, and Turkmenistan's state media, the first stop of the tour, reported that "the two countries will hold constructive consultations on key promising sectors such as energy and smart cities" during this visit.

On the same day, Turkmenistan's state daily newspapers, Turkmenistan (local language edition) and Neutral Turkmenistan (Russian edition), conveyed this in an article titled "Republic of Korea President Yoon Suk-yeol's State Visit to Turkmenistan."

Both newspapers noted that President Yoon's visit is the first state visit by a Korean head of state in five years since 2019, describing it as "a clear demonstration of active exchanges at the highest level between the two countries, contributing to deepening and developing a mutually beneficial partner relationship."

Regarding Korea, they described it as "a country with a special bond that has exchanged relations since ancient times" and evaluated it as "a partner with whom Turkmenistan can cooperate in areas such as capital, technology, and infrastructure necessary for moving toward the future."

In particular, the two newspapers expressed expectations that President Yoon's visit will increase opportunities for cooperation with Korean companies, which have shown great interest in Turkmenistan's gas field projects, plant orders, and other infrastructure projects.

The newspapers emphasized, "Solidarity and cooperation to overcome crises and turn them into opportunities are more urgent than ever," adding, "Various opportunities such as green growth and digital transformation lie ahead for both countries."

Regarding the Korean government's ongoing diplomatic vision of the 'Global Pivot State (GPS)', it explained that "it is playing an active role in contributing to peace and prosperity in the international community."

It also stated, "2025 is the 'International Year of Peace and Trust' declared by the United Nations," and "under the recognition that international issues must be resolved solely through peaceful diplomatic means and methods, it will lead the international community's joint efforts."

On the morning of the same day, President Yoon departed for Turkmenistan, the first country on his tour, aboard Air Force One with his wife, First Lady Kim Keon-hee. He is scheduled to make state visits to Turkmenistan from the 10th to 11th, Kazakhstan from the 11th to 13th, and Uzbekistan from the 13th to 15th.
