"Rumors Even Torment Family"
Declares YouTube Retirement While Expressing Pain
On the 6th, YouTuber Eun Hyeon-jang (40), known as 'Jangsaui Sin,' announced, "I will retire from the Jangsaui Sin YouTube channel after today's video," following allegations that the main ingredient content of the meal kits he sells was incorrectly labeled. He appealed, "I sincerely hope society will become one where the culture of relentlessly attacking and biting into a person on the chopping block until their death disappears."
The issue began with the pork cutlet released by 'Jangsaui Sin.' A YouTuber commissioned an ingredient content analysis of the pork cutlet meal kit released by Eun to an analysis agency and received results showing discrepancies between the labeled content and the actual content. This YouTuber stated, "The June 4 investigation revealed that the 75% sirloin content of Jangsaui Sin's pork cutlet was falsely labeled," adding, "It was determined to be a violation of Article 4 of the Act on Labeling and Advertising of Foods, etc., and administrative sanctions have been decided."
In response, Eun explained, "There may be issues with the ratio, but the 'amount of meat' itself was more than what was labeled." He said that during the cooking process, considering weight variations in the product, more breadcrumbs and raw meat were added than originally labeled, which caused the raw meat content ratio to change.
"We are currently waiting for the results to determine if there is a legal issue," he said, adding, "I intended to continue activities until the court verdict, but the remaining lawsuits have uncertain timelines, and during that period, absurd rumors have been tormenting me and my family." He lamented, "Even when I explain, they pick faults to create other rumors and even demand I show my underwear," appealing, "I hope this witch hunt does not pass on to others," and declared his complete retirement.
Eun gained attention by introducing himself as the founder of the franchise 'Fried Cham Jalhaneun Jip (Huchamjal)' and as a startup expert who sold the brand he founded for '20 billion won.' In 2019, he sold Huchamjal to OK Company for 19 billion won and became known by creating content like the YouTube version of 'Alley Restaurant.' He published his autobiography, I am Jangsaui Sin, which chronicles his success story, and appeared on various broadcasts such as Channel A's Commoners' Wealth: Escape from Closure Operation.
While he was thriving, several controversies arose since last year. Allegations surfaced that there was a discrepancy between the chicken franchise sale amount Eun disclosed and the actual sale price. Furthermore, suspicions emerged that Eun might have been involved in stock manipulation because the brand he sold belonged to a subsidiary of Chorokbaem Media, whose chairman Won Young-sik was arrested in 2023 on charges of stock manipulation and breach of trust. To make matters worse, it was revealed that he used illegal 'macro (recommendation manipulation tools)' to increase views on his Naver cafe, putting him in a tight spot.
