At around 11:25 a.m. on the 6th, an eight-vehicle collision occurred on the Jungbunaeryuk Expressway in Gyeongnam Changnyeong-gun, Gyesong-myeon.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency Highway Patrol and the Gyeongnam Fire Department, a passenger car heading toward the Changwon direction near the Yeongsan Interchange (IC) rear-ended another passenger car in front, and then following passenger cars and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) successively collided with the vehicles ahead.
There were a total of 14 people in the eight vehicles involved in the accident, but no casualties were reported.
Due to the aftermath of the accident, traffic congestion continued for about an hour over a stretch of approximately 5 kilometers behind the accident site.
The police believe that the driver of the vehicle involved in the initial collision failed to pay sufficient attention to the road ahead and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
