'Cheonsa (1040) Support Fund' Applications Open from the 10th
Must Apply Within 60 Days from Birthday Each Year
Incheon City is launching the ‘Angel (1040) Support Fund,’ one of the policies under the ‘100 Million Plus i Dream’ initiative, which aims to provide 100 million KRW in support for every child born in Incheon until they turn 18, to overcome the low birthrate. This policy provides an annual payment of 1.2 million KRW for children aged 1 to 7 and will begin accepting applications from the 10th of this month.
The 100 Million Plus i Dream policy offers a total of 100 million KRW in birth support, combining 72 million KRW from parental benefits, child allowances, first meeting vouchers, and elementary to high school education expenses, with an additional 28 million KRW from the city for the Angel Support Fund, i Dream allowance, and transportation expenses for pregnant women.
The Angel Support Fund consists of a 2 million KRW first meeting voucher celebrating the child’s birth and a total of 8.4 million KRW paid as 1.2 million KRW annually from ages 1 to 7, totaling 10.4 million KRW supported by Incheon City. This applies to children born in 2023 who turn 1 year old this year. In addition to the existing child allowance of 100,000 KRW per month, including national subsidies for children aged 0 to 7, Incheon City will provide an additional 1.2 million KRW annually for children aged 1 to 7. The number of eligible recipients for the Angel Support Fund is expected to be around 14,000 this year.
To receive the Angel Support Fund, the child must be registered with either the father or mother based on their birthday and have resided in Incheon for more than one year. Applications must be submitted within 60 days from the child’s birthday each year. If the application period is missed, support cannot be received for that year. For children born in 2023 who have already turned 1 before the policy implementation, applications will be accepted until August 8. Either the father or mother can apply through the Government24 (Bojo-geum24) website.
The Angel Support Fund will be paid in Incheon e-eum points, a local currency, by the end of the month following the application. Applicants must register on the Incheon e-eum app and obtain a card in advance. The received Angel Support Fund points can be used at Incheon e-eum affiliated stores for 12 months from the date of point issuance, after which unused points will automatically expire.
