DGB Financial Group announced on the 5th that it held the ‘Group NEW CI Declaration Ceremony’ and the unveiling ceremony of the headquarters signboard following the transition of its core affiliate iM Bank (formerly DGB Daegu Bank) to a commercial bank and the change of its trade name, in line with its new start as a commercial financial group.
About 300 guests, including local residents, employees, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, Kim Cheol-ho, Head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Financial Supervisory Service, and Park Yoon-kyung, Chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended the event.
The core affiliate iM Bank received approval for conversion to a commercial bank on the 16th of last month, and at the extraordinary general meeting held on the 27th of the same month, it resolved to amend the articles of incorporation to change its trade name. Non-bank affiliates also implemented amendments to their articles of incorporation on the same day, and from the 5th, the new trade names and CI will be officially applied.

At the event, to emphasize a stronger commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management following the transition to a commercial bank, an on-site donation was conducted in collaboration with the donation platform ‘Cherry.’ A ‘Donate’ feature was newly added to the iM Bank app, allowing anyone to easily make charitable donations. In addition to the on-site donations made by employees attending the event, the bank donated a total of 19.67 million KRW, reflecting the significance of its founding year, 1967. The funds raised will be fully donated to the nonprofit organization ‘Yana,’ which supports self-reliant youth.
Meanwhile, Hwang Byung-woo, Chairman of DGB Financial Group, expressed his aspirations for the transition to a commercial bank, including expanding relationship banking for corporate clients and establishing a nationwide branch network, providing convenient products through digital channels and expanding inclusive finance for individual customers, fostering mutual growth through open collaboration with fintech companies, and promoting customized finance reflecting regional characteristics in local communities.
Chairman Hwang said, “Reborn as a nationwide commercial bank, iM Bank is the first case of a regional bank transitioning to a commercial bank. I thank our customers who have shown love and support, as well as the distinguished guests who have honored this occasion,” and emphasized, “Going forward, we will leverage the advantages of internet-only banks such as digital accessibility and cost efficiency, along with the strengths of a regional bank with expertise in SME finance, to become the most regional nationwide bank headquartered in Daegu.”
