Oh Se-hoon Hits Back at Lee Jae-myung Again: "Electoral Reform Is Like Urging to Buy Defective Products"

'Post an article titled "Propose Solutions That Embrace Intergenerational Justice"'
"Only extended depletion point by 9 years... Embarrassing to call it reform"
Also criticized special prosecutor law the day before... "Trying to get a preemptive pardon"

On the 5th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding the parametric reform mentioned as part of the National Pension reform plan, saying it seems like "offering 'defective products' and urging people to buy quickly." On the previous day as well, Mayor Oh directly targeted the Democratic Party and Lee, who proposed a special prosecutor law to investigate the 'alleged coercion by former Gyeonggi Province Peace Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young,' and he is not holding back political messages as a potential presidential candidate.

On the 5th, through a post titled 'Please present a solution that embodies intergenerational justice' on his Facebook, Mayor Oh pointed out, "The parametric reform mentioned by Lee is about paying more and receiving more, but it only extends the depletion point of the National Pension by a mere 9 years. Experts also point out that the overall finances worsen, so it is embarrassing to even call this reform," criticizing the plan.

The ruling and opposition parties discussed National Pension reform in the 21st National Assembly, but the ruling party advocated structural reform while the opposition insisted on parametric reform, failing to reach an agreement. However, on the same day, Lee said at the party's Supreme Council meeting, "I urge the government and ruling party again to swiftly push forward pension reform," and "Since parametric reform has already been agreed upon, let's proceed with it."

In response, Mayor Oh said, "The important point is that the issue of generational equity is not even touched," adding, "Even if parametric reform is implemented, for the young generation in their teens and twenties, the pension remains 'money paid in but not received,' and this fact does not change," criticizing Lee's claim as an excessively tactical political attack.

In particular, Mayor Oh pointed out, "Japan has repeatedly reformed its pension system and now the government confidently guarantees security for 100 years. Shouldn't it be at this level to proudly say it is a 'genuine product' that the public and future generations can trust and accept?" He added, "Refraining from tactical political attacks and presenting fundamental solutions that embody intergenerational justice would be the mark of a true leader."

On the previous day as well, Mayor Oh issued sharp messages targeting the Democratic Party and Lee. In response to the Democratic Party's Special Countermeasure Team on Political Prosecution Fabrication proposing the 'Special Prosecutor Law on North Korea Remittance Prosecution Fabrication,' he criticized, "Is Lee Jae-myung trying to get a 'preemptive pardon' through the so-called Lee Hwa-young special prosecutor law, which was proposed four days before the first trial verdict of the 'Ssangbangwool illegal North Korea remittance' case?" He also added, "Lee Jae-myung is suspected of judicial collusion for receiving a not guilty verdict in a false information disclosure case through former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Soon-il, who is accused in the 5 billion won club case. Having been in politics for 25 years, I am witnessing strange politics that I have never heard or seen before," he concluded.
