Jongno-gu, Application for Multicultural Family Children's Educational Activity Expenses Open Until September

Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) announced on the 5th that it will accept applications for educational activity expenses for children of multicultural families in elementary, middle, and high school until September 30th this year. The purpose is to provide educational activity expenses to children from low-income multicultural families to help improve their academic abilities and support them in planning their own futures.

The eligible applicants are children and adolescents aged 7 to 18 (born between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2017) from multicultural families with Korean nationality who do not receive educational benefits and whose household income is at or below 100% of the median income. Children from multicultural families who are not attending school are also eligible for support. The support amount is 400,000 KRW annually for elementary students, 500,000 KRW for middle school students, and 600,000 KRW for high school students, paid via NH Nonghyup Card (Chaeum) points.

The funds can be used until the end of November this year for purchasing study materials or paying for reading room fees for academic activities. They can also be used for purchasing materials for arts, physical education, and vocational training practice related to career activities, as well as for certification exam fees. Cash withdrawal is not allowed, and usage is restricted at entertainment and gambling establishments, places where youth entry is prohibited, and stores selling gift certificates or adult products.

Applications can be submitted by the applicant or their parents by registering as a member on the Jongno-gu Family Center website and visiting the Jongno-gu Family Center (29 Jongno 53-gil, 2nd floor) with a family relation certificate, resident registration certificate, and 2024 health insurance payment confirmation.

If the family relation certification is complicated, additional supporting documents may be required, so it is recommended to inquire in advance with the Family Business Team 2 at the Jongno-gu Family Center.
