Yeongdong-gun Hosts the 11th Korea Wine Awards Ceremony

The 11th Korea Wine Awards, aimed at advancing the globalization of Korean wine and revitalizing consumption, took place on May 24 (Friday) at the Korea Wine Festival.

This year, 153 wine items from 53 wineries nationwide competed in quality, including 95 types of wine produced in Yeongdong-gun (18 producers) and 58 types from other regions across the country, including Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk (35 producers).

At the 11th Korea Wine Awards, one Diamond award (Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award) was given to Yeongdong Geumyong Nongsan Jeon In-gi Mirato Red Dry; two Grand Gold awards (Chungcheongbuk-do Governor Award, Rural Development Administration Administrator Award) were given to Yeongdong Blue Wine Company Berry Wine 1168RS10 and Yesan Agricultural Corporation Yesan Apple Wine Co., Ltd. Chusa 40; five Gold awards, five Silver awards, and five Bronze awards were also selected, totaling 18 wines. Yeongdong-gun, which submitted the largest number of wines at 95 types, won the most awards with 11 wines.

Jeong Young-cheol, the governor of Yeongdong-gun, stated, “In Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk, where many wineries are located domestically, the Korea Wine Awards are held to ensure the continuous development of Korean wine and to establish quality standards for Korean wine. This year’s Korea Wine Awards were successfully completed through thorough judging by domestic wine experts.”

Governor Jeong Young-cheol of Yeongdong-gun added, “Based on the results of this Korea Wine Awards, I hope all wineries in Korea will have an opportunity to further develop. The healing dinner show demonstrated that domestic wines can also be enjoyed as premium wines in hotels. I hope many wineries will participate again next year to accelerate the globalization of Korean wine.”
