Hollys' signature menu item, 'Vanilla Delight,' was sold once every 9 seconds last year. Vanilla Delight is made from premium Madagascar vanilla bean powder, offering a rich body and deep sweetness, and was launched in 2008.
Hollys announced on the 5th that approximately 3.4 million cups of Vanilla Delight were sold nationwide last year. This translates to about 10,000 cups sold daily, meaning customers chose it roughly once every 9 seconds. A Hollys representative said, "Vanilla Delight has consistently maintained its position as a bestseller for the past 15 years, living up to the reputation of a signature menu item."
Since 2022, Vanilla Delight has firmly held the second place following the number one menu item, Americano. While most coffee shops have Americano and Caffe Latte as the undisputed first and second bestsellers, Vanilla Delight’s retention of second place highlights the popularity of this signature menu item. Additionally, the iced version was over four times more popular than the hot beverage. A Hollys representative explained, "This phenomenon appears to be due to the difference in milk quantity that allows for a richer taste, combined with Korean consumers’ preference for iced menu items."
Riding on this popularity, Hollys is expanding its lineup of products using Vanilla Delight. In 2019, they launched stick coffee for easy enjoyment of Vanilla Delight at home, and in March of this year, the limited edition Sesame Street collaboration stick coffee, 'Vanilla Delight Sesame Edition,' also received love from customers. Beyond this, Vanilla Delight has extended into dessert categories such as cakes, macarons, and shaved ice, showcasing its prestige as a signature menu item.
A Hollys representative stated, "Vanilla Delight is a flagship menu item that has driven Hollys’ growth, and beyond the sales figures, it holds greater significance in that it has brought long-term enjoyment to customers, true to the origin of its name.
