National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage Selected as an Excellent Institution in Records Management Evaluation

Prime Minister's Commendation at the 'Day of Records' Ceremony

The National Heritage Agency's National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 'Records Day' ceremony held on the 4th at the Government Sejong Convention Center. This achievement was the result of being selected as an excellent institution in last year's records management agency evaluation organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's National Archives. Following the 2022 Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, the institute was once again recognized as an outstanding institution.

The institute scored a total of 98.68 points in three areas: 'Records Management Work Foundation,' 'Records Management Work Promotion,' and 'Optional Indicators (Autonomy·Policy).' This was the highest score among 147 special local administrative agencies. It comfortably exceeded the average scores of central administrative agencies (89 points), special local administrative agencies (69.9 points), and national/public universities (73.5 points).

The institute was highly evaluated for safely preserving and managing research records accumulated over the past 50 years (such as photographic films, slides, drawings, and rubbings), and for spreading records culture through internal and external cooperation. It also received high marks for being the first in Korea to apply advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of cultural heritage records.

The institute stated, “We will continue to systematically manage research records in the cultural heritage field and strengthen records management capabilities to provide better records information services.”
