Busan Urban Corporation to Conduct Safety Inspections in Preparation for Heavy Summer Rainfall

Full Survey of 1,188 BMC-Invested Land Parcels

All-Out Effort to Ensure Citizen Safety with 'Yubimuhwan' Preparedness

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) will conduct safety inspections on its investment land holdings by the end of June to prepare for heavy rainfall during the summer season.

Investment land refers to assets contributed by Busan City at the time of BMC's establishment. Currently, the corporation owns a total of 1,188 parcels of land, covering 226,771.17 square meters, across 10 districts including Busanjin-gu and Dong-gu. Some of these parcels are located in areas prone to disasters, such as steep slopes.

To prevent disasters caused by typhoons and heavy rainfall during the summer, BMC will inspect ▲stability of steep slopes ▲ground deformation ▲cracks and damage to facilities ▲drainage systems, and will conduct joint inspections with external experts in areas with high disaster risk for more thorough examination.

In particular, BMC plans to prioritize checking the safety risk factors and any abnormalities in 45 parcels identified as disaster-prone through previous safety inspections, ensuring thorough preparation to prevent disasters from sudden summer downpours.

Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "Safety cannot be overemphasized and is extremely important in land management," and added, "Through this safety inspection, we will prevent disasters caused by heavy summer rainfall and establish an emergency response system to respond quickly to urgent situations."

He continued, "By establishing an autonomous safety management system with the participation of all BMC employees, we will ensure the safety of citizens and fulfill our social responsibilities as a public institution."
