Xperix Expands Pilot Project Based on National ID Open Platform MOSIP

Xperix (CEO Yoon Sang-chul) announced on the 5th that from the 21st to the 24th of last month, it participated in ID4Africa, Africa's largest digital ID solution exhibition held in Cape Town, South Africa, where its flagship product, the fingerprint scanner ‘RealScan S60,’ was the first in the industry to be integrated and demonstrated with the latest Android-based service of MOSIP (Modular Open Source Platform).

The company stated that this demonstration received enthusiastic attention at the exhibition and that it was recognized as an important technical partner by major companies.

MOSIP, sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, helps design and develop effective digital identity systems tailored to the requirements of countries seeking to build ID systems. It has already completed ID systems used by over 100 million people in various countries across Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Xperix and MOSIP had already launched pilot projects in Africa in 2022 in Sierra Leone and Madagascar, which were recently successfully completed. Recently, they also participated in the AFIS project consortium promoted by the Mozambican government. Based on this, they plan to expand their business to the East African region (Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, etc.).

Lee Sang-hoon, Executive Director and Head of Xperix’s ID Business Sector, said, “We will continue to collaborate with MOSIP based on our cutting-edge technology and diverse global experience,” adding, “We expect this to be another stepping stone for us to grow as a global biometric solution company by actively participating in pilot projects not only in Africa but also in Asia and South America.”
