Dobong-gu to Join Seoul's Textile Fabric Recycling Project Starting July
Textile Waste Recycled into Sound Absorbers, Insulation Covers, etc.
Dedicated Recycling Bags Provided to Boost Business Participation
Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will participate in the Seoul City Sewing Fabric Recycling Project, which will be implemented from July to promote the recycling of sewing waste fabric.
With this participation, a stable processing system for sewing waste fabric in the region is expected to be established.
From July, about 400 tons of sewing fabric waste generated annually in the district will be discharged to the Seoul SR Center collection site, which is scheduled to operate from July. The discharged waste will be recycled into sound absorbers, thermal covers, and more.
The district will produce and support dedicated sewing fabric recycling bags (75ℓ) to encourage participation from local sewing-related businesses and promote separate disposal.
The support targets about 300 sewing-related businesses such as sewing and sock manufacturers in the region, with about 600 bags provided per business. Applications can be submitted by downloading and filling out the application form from the Dobong-gu website and submitting it to the Dobong-gu Resource Circulation Division.
Only fabric waste can be placed in the dedicated bags, and collection will be refused if mixed with garbage or other waste. A district official said, “The real-name system for waste discharge will be applied to businesses supported with dedicated bags, so we kindly ask that the discharge methods be strictly followed.”
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Participation in this project has enabled us to establish a stable processing system for sewing waste fabric. We will continue to accelerate related projects to create a resource-circulating economy city.” Dobong-gu Resource Circulation Division Recycling Team
