June 4th Completion Ceremony Held... Total of 33 Parking Spaces Secured to Alleviate Parking Shortage in Kumho-dong Area
203 Spaces to be Added at Salgoti Public Parking Lot in July, Temporary Public Parking Lot with 60 Spaces Planned in Majang-dong Food Alley Site in October
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced plans to alleviate parking difficulties in the Kumho-dong area by completing the Kumho-dong 1-ga public parking lot and adding two more public parking lots by the second half of this year.
On June 4, Seongdong-gu completed the construction of the Kumho 1-ga public parking lot and held a completion ceremony.
The Kumho-dong 1-ga public parking lot was built in two tiers by utilizing the level difference of the existing resident-priority parking area, creating a total of 33 parking spaces.
After gathering residents' opinions in advance, fast charging facilities for electric vehicles were installed, and external sidewalks and safety fences were also refurbished for user convenience.
After temporary operation (time-based parking) until the end of June, full operation will begin in July, combining regular resident-priority parking and time-based parking.
Improvement work is also underway at the Salgot-i public parking lot. Once completed in July, the number of parking spaces will increase from the existing 102 to 203, significantly improving parking convenience for users of Salgot-i Sports Park and greatly alleviating parking difficulties in the area.
Additionally, a temporary public parking lot is being constructed on the site of the Majang-dong Food Alley, with completion targeted for October. The Majang-dong Food Alley operated without a permit for about 35 years, but following a fire, the businesses relocated to the Ansim Shopping Mall Majang Cheonggye branch and began demolition and maintenance on May 8.
A total of 60 additional parking spaces will be created on the site, which is expected to greatly help revitalize the Majang-dong traditional market, where parking spaces have been relatively insufficient compared to the large floating population.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “The completion of the Kumho-dong 1-ga public parking lot will greatly improve parking convenience for residents,” adding, “We will continue to promote the expansion and improvement of public parking lots to create a parking environment without inconvenience for residents.”
