On the 3rd, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new Dongmyeong-dong Administrative Complex Center and officially began the construction work.
The event was attended by District Mayor Im Taek, various guests from different sectors, and residents of Dongmyeong-dong.
Following its selection for the 'Living SOC Complex Project' in 2020, Dong-gu secured a total budget of 11 billion KRW and initiated the construction project for the Dongmyeong-dong Administrative Complex Center. Completion is scheduled for December 2025.
The Dongmyeong-dong Administrative Complex Center will have a total floor area of 3,244.83㎡ and will be built with two basement levels and three above-ground floors. The first floor will house the Administrative Welfare Center, while the second and third floors will accommodate the Resident Health Center, the Dongdaebonbu, and the Village Sarangchae, respectively.
The construction of the Dongmyeong-dong Administrative Complex Center is expected not only to provide high-quality administrative services to local residents but also to promote health among residents, foster emotional connections, and contribute to the revitalization of the local community.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "I am very honored to establish an administrative complex space for residents in Dongmyeong-dong, which is the center of tourism in Dong-gu. We will ensure the construction proceeds smoothly until next year so that it can become a space for administration, culture, and communication for the residents."
