Incheon Port Authority Holds 'Incheon Used Cars-Parts Export Consultation' with Ministry of Trade and KOTRA

Incheon Port Authority (IPA) held the 'Incheon Used Car-Parts Export Consultation Meeting (I-AUTO)' on the 4th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, jointly with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

The export consultation meeting, organized to expand overseas opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the used car and related parts industries, was attended by 50 domestic SMEs and 30 buyers from the Middle East and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) regions, conducting export consultations on used cars, vehicle parts such as wipers and lights, and vehicle maintenance.

IPA set up B2B consultation booths at the venue to guide domestic and international participating companies on the strengths of Incheon Port, promoted used car transportation services by destination, and introduced ways to reduce logistics costs using the Incheon Port Marketing Support Center. The Marketing Support Center is an online platform for requesting and comparing estimates of export-import logistics costs at Incheon Port.

At this export consultation meeting, IPA plans to strengthen the export momentum of the used car market by selecting SMEs with high potential for export contracts with overseas buyers and linking with the 'KOTRA Emergency Branch Project,' which acts as customized local marketing by facilitating urgent contract signing and client management.

The KOTRA Emergency Branch Project supports SMEs and mid-sized companies that lack the capacity to establish overseas branches by having KOTRA’s overseas trade offices act as local branches for three months to assist export operations.

An IPA official stated, "Incheon Port is the number one port in Korea for used car exports, and the expansion of the used car export market and the growth of SMEs are directly linked to the competitiveness of Incheon Port." He added, "We will continue to discover support projects specialized for ports in cooperation with the government and related organizations to promote mutual growth."
