In April, a total of four projects were open for application to general hospitals in Busan attracting foreign patients: three mandatory projects (telemedicine center, physician training, specialized medical technology attraction marketing) and one optional project (medical sharing). After evaluation by the review committee, Daedong Hospital, Pusan National University Hospital, Dong-A University Hospital, Haeundae Paik Hospital, and Good Gangan Hospital were selected.

The selection process included document screening based on performance in attracting foreign patients, capability related to target countries, and participation in Busan's medical tourism projects, along with expert PT evaluations using qualitative indicators for each project, resulting in the selection of five medical institutions.

In this round, Daedong Hospital was selected for all three mandatory projects and will receive funding from Busan Metropolitan City to carry out various activities to attract foreign patients until the end of this year.

Kim Youngjun, Director of the International Medical Center at Daedong Hospital (Orthopedic Specialist), said, "Before the pandemic, we hosted a training program for Mongolian doctors in collaboration with Busan Metropolitan City, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to conduct physician training again. We will prepare a high-quality program so that overseas doctors who receive training at Daedong Hospital can promote Busan's medical technology in their home countries and play a significant role in activating exchanges."

Last year, Daedong Hospital opened a telemedicine clinic at the Railway General Hospital in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, providing real-time consultations to Mongolian patients 2,306 km away from Busan and collaborating with local medical staff. The hospital is making multifaceted efforts to establish and activate a telemedicine system.
