Foundation Laid for National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex

Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province, visited the Sin Pohang Substation and the POSCO hydrogen production facility site on May 28.

Uljin County visited the Sin Pohang Substation and POSCO hydrogen production facility site.

This site visit aimed to benchmark the hydrogen production facility, Sin Pohang Substation, and POSCO Substation to design a roadmap for supplying 2GW of power and ensuring a 24/7 continuous power supply within the future National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex.

It was once again emphasized that, in the era of climate crisis and energy transition, only the mass production of clean hydrogen using carbon-free power sources?pursued by the Uljin National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex?can drive national competitiveness and revitalize the local economy.

County Governor Son Byungbok stated, "Since supplying nuclear power, a carbon-free energy source, is crucial for the establishment of the National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex, Uljin County and Korea Electric Power Corporation will work together to ensure that the Uljin National Nuclear Hydrogen Industrial Complex, the core of the national hydrogen economy and 2050 carbon neutrality, is successfully established."
