20s Woman Who Fled After Crashing Vehicle Tests Positive for Philopon in Preliminary Test

The Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced on the 3rd that they have arrested a woman in her 20s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (hit-and-run causing injury and dangerous driving causing injury), obstruction of official duties, and violations of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take action after an accident and drugged driving).

According to the police, A is suspected of hitting a vehicle ahead near Yangjae IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway at around 10:10 p.m. on the 31st of last month and fleeing the scene.

A fled approximately 40 km toward Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, for about 20 minutes before being caught on the spot by pursuing police officers. While stopped, she moved the car and hit a police officer, resulting in an additional charge of obstruction of official duties.

Although A showed no abnormalities in the alcohol test, she tested positive for methamphetamine in the drug screening test.

The police have requested a detailed examination of A by the National Forensic Service and are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident.
