Driving in a License Revocation-Level Drunken State
Police "Considering Additional Charges for Road Damage"
A video of a car running on the road with only wheels and no tires has become a hot topic. The man driving the car was arrested on the spot by the police while in a state of severe intoxication.
According to the police on the 2nd, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a report around 1 a.m. on the 30th of last month saying, "There is a sound like a rolling hoop," and arrested the driver on the spot on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). The driver was found to be so intoxicated that his license was canceled level and was unaware that the tires were missing from the vehicle.
Mr. A is accused of driving a passenger car with both right-side tires missing on Gangbyeonbuk-ro, heading toward Seongsu Bridge and Gangnam while severely intoxicated.
The police are reviewing whether to apply additional charges against Mr. A, such as road damage, after analyzing footage from black boxes and CCTV.
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, a video titled "Gangbyeonbuk-ro Rolling Hoop Appearance" was posted on an online community, showing a car running on the road without tires on the front passenger side wheel and the rear wheel behind it. The car was speeding on the road using only the left front and rear tires. The video also captured scenes where the wheels touched the asphalt road surface, producing metallic sounds and sparks flying.
Netizens expressed doubts about how a vehicle missing two tires could run. Comments included, "It seems like it wouldn't be able to brake, so how can it run?" and "I can't close my mouth," showing their astonishment.
At the same time, concerns about the risk of accidents were raised, pointing out that it could damage other cars and the road. Responses included, "If the wheel breaks like that, it could harm other cars or cause a fatal accident," "If you look closely at the video, the asphalt is being scraped," and "The road surface will be completely ruined."
