Regarding the increase in admission quotas for medical schools for the 2025 academic year, the amendment procedures for the academic regulations of 32 universities were completed on the 31st, but it was found that only one medical school did not reflect the increase in its academic regulations.
According to the universities on that day, 31 universities, excluding Yonsei University (Mirae), all completed the amendment of their academic regulations. The government had previously requested 32 universities to increase their medical school quotas and to reflect this in their academic regulations by the 31st.
Kyungpook National University, Gachon University, and Soonchunhyang University, which completed the internal opinion collection process, announced the amended academic regulations respectively in the afternoon of the previous day and the morning of that day. Chungnam National University, which had rejected the amendment proposal at the university council meeting the previous day, held the university council meeting again in the morning of that day, reconsidered, and amended the academic regulations. Sungkyunkwan University also held a university council meeting in the afternoon of that day and approved the amendment proposal.
However, Yonsei University (Mirae) decided to conditionally approve the amendment proposal according to the appellate court's decision on the suspension of execution of the medical school quota increase earlier this month and forwarded it to the Sinchon main campus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education announced that it would issue corrective orders under the Higher Education Act to universities that have not amended their academic regulations even after the 31st. Yonsei University (Mirae)'s admission quota was increased from 93 to 100. Since the increase of 7 students is relatively small, the university community believes that the possibility of the amendment proposal being rejected is not high.
