On the 31st, Cheonan City in Chungnam announced that its "Automotive Parts Manufacturing Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project" was finally selected in the additional public offering of the Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project led by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
This project, participated in as a consortium with Chungnam Province and three cities and counties within the province, is being implemented to enhance the competitiveness of the automotive industry by improving working conditions in the automotive parts industry and among Hyundai and Kia Motors' second- and third-tier subcontractors amid uncertain conditions in the automotive sector such as the transition to future vehicles.
The main support includes job fulfillment subsidies for newly hired personnel, job leap incentives, health checkups, childbirth support, welfare points, and other welfare benefits.
In particular, by expanding the eligible support age to 59, it is expected to contribute to the activation of employment not only among the youth but also the middle-aged and older workers, and to promote the influx of skilled personnel into the related industries.
Mayor Park Sang-don said, "Small and medium subcontractors are struggling due to a shortage of new and skilled personnel and frequent turnover," adding, "We will do our best to resolve recruitment difficulties and create a sustainable working environment through improving working conditions."
