Samsung Electronics Obtains Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy 'New Technology Certification' for Air Purifier Filter Innovation

Certified with 'Bespoke Cube Air Infinite Line' Filter
Filter Developed for Reuse by Washing with Water Without Replacement

Samsung Electronics announced on the 31st that it has obtained the 'New Excellent Technology (NET)' certification for air purifier filter technology from the National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Samsung Electronics newly equipped the washable sterilizing dust collection filter, which can be washed with water and reused, in the new air purifier product 'Bespoke Cube Air Infinite Line' launched in March, and received the 2024 certification for the technology applied to this filter.

The New Excellent Technology certification is a system in which the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Technology Association certify the innovation and excellence of newly developed technologies or significantly improved existing technologies for the first time in Korea.

The 'hybrid method electrostatic dust collection technology' of the washable sterilizing dust collection filter developed by Samsung Electronics is characterized by generating high-concentration ions only inside the air purifier to effectively capture fine dust and bacteria while minimizing the release of ions and ozone to the outside.

This washable sterilizing dust collection filter not only has the ability to remove more than 99.999% of ultrafine dust but also sterilizes more than 99% of collected bacteria and viruses, and manages ozone generation to below 0.01 ppm, demonstrating excellent air purification performance. This performance is maintained even when the filter is washed with water and reused without periodic replacement.

In addition, the new Bespoke Cube Air Infinite Line is equipped with a 'photocatalytic deodorizing filter,' which has the advantage of efficiently removing odor substances by adsorbing and decomposing them with photocatalysts and ultraviolet (UV) light instead of the conventional activated carbon method.

Besides the New Excellent Technology certification, this product also received the 'PA (Pure Air) certification' from the Korea Ozone Ultraviolet Association in February, recognizing its performance in reducing airborne bacteria and viruses.

Furthermore, it received the 'AI+ certification' from the Korea Standards Association for its 'Customized Clean AI+' function, which analyzes indoor and outdoor air quality and purifies indoor air in advance when poor air quality is predicted.

Moon Jong-seung, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions Division, said, "We have developed a new electrostatic dust collection technology that overcomes the limitations of existing technologies by reducing ozone generation and not releasing ions outside the device." He added, "We will continue to introduce products that improve consumers' quality of life and contribute to the environment through new technology development."
